Summary
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to lead and oversee a small team of two accounting professionals. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role involves supervising, mentoring, and maintaining the positive direction of the accounting team, while also performing hands-on accounting tasks to support the organization’s goals. The Accounting Supervisor will report directly to the CFO.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversees day-to-day accounting functions, including assisting and leading our Accounts Payable Specialist, and Staff Accountant responsible for the AR, and full cycle month end close activities to prepare.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for the CFO/Board.
- Manage and assist AP accountant and AR accountant day to day.
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve any day-to-day discrepancies.
- Lead and prepare the month-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries and adjusting accounts, manage and monitor month end inventory reviews with the warehouse team, CC reconciliations, bank reconciliations and various je’s.
- Review financial statements for accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Manage, assist, and guide and support the accounting staff, ensuring workloads are managed efficiently.
- Identify & fix areas of development or training for accounting and find opportunities for improvement.
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Comply with local, state, and federal government requirements. After the month-end close, prepare and file monthly and quarterly sales tax returns against sales for the month.
- Identifies and recommends updates to accounting processes and procedures.
- Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned by the CFO.
- Work with the CFO on commission payments for sales team against sales collected for the month.
- Work with an AR accountant to keep collections low and collected in a timely manner.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Must have 3 + yrs of month-end close experience with leading the close on your own.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, with 1-2 years of supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger functions
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- QuickBooks experience a plus.
